1) You. Who you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life?
My name is Trenton Cimijotti. I am a Marketing major at UF. I enjoy problem-solving and working in teams. When I see a problem I automatically think of solutions and get annoyed when it is not solved. I always search for adventures. If I were to start this business concept it would play a huge role in my life. It would require my attention almost 24/7 from time spent spreading the word to actually managing the day to day operations. In addition, I always thought of myself as a subtle perfectionist. For example, whenever I work on projects I set incredibly high standards. I feel that with this business concept I would do the same.
2) What are you offering to customers? Describe the product or service (in other words, how you'll solve customers' unmet needs).
I am providing a service that will dispose of computers in an environment-friendly way and saving individuals from the chance that their personal information on the computer is stolen. Recycling computers is already a confusing process for most people. However, by offering a dual service to clear the hard drive of the computer while the computer is recycled than people can dispose of their computer without worrying about identity theft.
3) Who are you offering it to? Describe, in as much detail as possible, the demographic and psychographic characteristics of your customers. Think especially of this question: what do your customers all have in common?
I am offering this service to anyone that needs to recycle their computer regardless of age (18+). Disposing of a computer is complicated with many different variables that go into a person choosing a program to use. Some customers want to have a convenient program that takes little time out of their schedule. Others want their computer to be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way. They do not want to worry about if their computer will end up in a country across the world.
Companies would definitely be offered this service as they have a large number of computers they work with and want to have cleared properly. It is a serious risk for any company to not have their computer’s sensitive information stolen. The companies also have a need to be environmentally responsible.
4) Why do they care? Your solution is only valuable insofar as customers believe its value to them. Here, explain why customers will actually pay you money to use your product or service.
Companies want to promote themselves as “green” this would be a way they can achieve that. In turn, they would have a way to verify that their information is not being spread out to individuals that would want to abuse it. Individuals also want the most convenient way to get rid of their computers. They do not want to worry about the details of dropping off a computer on a specific day and time. This program would end that annoyance.
5) What are your core competencies? What sets you apart from everyone else? Also: what do you have that nobody else has?
Many other computer recycling has a reputation for their computers ending up in third world countries to be taken apart. The customers have no way of confirming this or not. What would set us apart would be the ability to track where the computer is at all times during the recycling process and what stage it is currently in.
In addition, to have a low fee and a pickup option anytime during the work week is unique. These are somethings few computer recycling places provide and if they do they charge a high rate for this accommodations.
In addition to these five elements, please spend a paragraph evaluating whether you believe these elements fit together or whether there are aspects of your business concept that are weaker / out-of-joint with the others.
These elements do fit together. However, there is one concept that does stand out to me as the weakest. That is getting the potential customers attention. I can theoretically provide the best computer recycling service in the world but I lack the connections to spread the word. This a very important aspect of the business concept because people rarely recycle computers. This leaves the business with the need to have many connections and good branding.
Hi Trenton,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your personality and this business mesh really well together. My only concern is why the 18+ age range? I'm sure there are plenty of teenagers who need to dispose of their computers, especially in this day and age where it seems like more technology is simply thrown out than used for extended periods of time, just a thought.
" tracking the process" is of course a very powerful core competencies reason for choosing your service, making the plan to be more competitive. However, COST for you plan is also decisive factor for you plan because not most people prefer money on their useless computer. if people who very care their privacy problem, they prefer to keep their useless computer or give it to a company.
ReplyDeleteHello Trenton,
ReplyDeleteI really do love this opportunity! I actually find it very interesting that in our group we attempting opportunities that are environmentally friendly. I am attempting to clean and recycle waste from the ocean, we have you attempting to recycle computers properly and then we Zhenxing trying to have a green laundry cleaning service. I think in the end even if our opportunity aren't accomplished I think our world is better for having us in it trying to create awareness.
